So what’s with the name? Legend has it that the Gilda was first created by the owner of Bar Casa Vallés, a classic local tavern in San Sebastian. Ethnic: Spanish Food Inspired by the flavors of Spain, Giada De Laurentiis creates an authentic menu that features a Spanish Potato Omelet; a Quick and Easy Romesco Sauce; Seafood, Sausage and Gilda, the most famous Pintxos Tapas from Donostia-San Sebastian in the Spanish Basque Country. Naming this particular Pintxos Gilda has nothing to do with an ancient Basque word, nor with its ingredients, it’s named after Rita Hayworth from the 1946 movie Gilda, as she’s equally “spicy and salty” (just look at her here ), just as the skewered snack.
